Volunteering: Do good, feel great.

PeersNonprofits like Journey's Way make the world a better place. We are delighted to have civic-minded volunteers of all ages join us in making that difference, whether through direct service to our clients or behind-the-scenes assistance in our offices.

Today, Journey's Way offers a smorgasbord of enriching volunteer possibilities. You could be a phone buddy, a program developer, a class instructor, a kitchen aide, a youth tutor, a publicity assistant, or an exercise leader, to name just a few. Also, alongside the direct-service volunteering in our Ridge Avenue center are "Neighbor to Neighbor" opportunities to help older adults in their homes in a variety of ways, from rides to chores to simply "friendly visits."

Knowing that people have different talents, schedules and goals, we will work with you to design a position that suits you. Then, we will provide training, supervision, two-way feedback, and plenty of appreciation. Along the way, be assured that you will gain friends, experience, and a deeper appreciation of life's journeys

For a taste of these experiences, read the account of our recent "spring cleaning" workday, when teams of volunteers visited 21 delighted homeowners to do an assortment of chores.

To apply to be one of our volunteers, please open and complete the application form.

Once you submit the application, Volunteer Coordinator Jim Remsen will contact you to continue the process. Also, you can reach Jim directly at 215-487-1750, ext. 3031 or jremsen@intercommunityaction.org. He is delighted to hear from you and answer any questions.
